The 2025 COLEEA One Loft Race came to an early finish again this year, after just two races.
Last winter felt cold at the time, but compared to this season, it was nothing but small potatoes.
With the cold intensifying every year, it’s becoming clearer that winter racing may no longer be sustainable.

This year’s losses hit harder than expected.

Hawks and peregrine falcons waited around the loft and repeatedly attacked as the pigeons tried to return home.
Because the birds drop their speed and altitude on approach, they became easy targets—so many simply abandoned the loft entry and flew all the way into the city, spending the night on high-rise buildings before coming back the next morning. Under these conditions, keeping them in racing shape has become nearly impossible.
And since these raptors are designated as highly protected national monuments in Korea, there is no legal or practical way for us to intervene or change the situation.

Even so, we saw remarkable performances.
Four birds returned in the first group in both races, and I want to warmly congratulate Mr. Yu and Mr. MB Lee’s syndicate, whose pigeons claimed 1st and 3rd place—a reward for years of commitment and perseverance.
